How to use this calculator

UP grading system

Philippines GWA / GPA (4.0) is what UP prints on most transcripts. The top band is A (4.00 points). A fail (F) usually counts as zero quality points until you pass the retake.

How is GWA computed at UP?

Is GWA the same as CGPA at UP?
Colloquially students say CGPA, but transcripts often print GWA or QPI. The calculation is still credit-weighted grade points — enter what your portal shows.
How do I combine semester GPAs into CGPA?
Weight each semester by its credit load: (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + …) ÷ total credits. CGPA mode on the calculator adds semester rows so you do not have to re-enter every subject.
What is the highest grade point on the UP scale?
On Philippines GWA / GPA (4.0), the ceiling is 4.00 quality points (A). Hitting that across every credit is rare — one failed lab can pull the average down until you clear it.
