PU grading system

Nepal University GPA (4.0) is what PU prints on most transcripts. The top band is A (4.00 points). A fail (F) usually counts as zero quality points until you pass the retake.

The math behind semester GPA and cumulative CGPA is the same across most universities — see our CGPA formula guide for a worked example. For broader planning tips, read the complete CGPA guide on the homepage.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate CGPA at PU?
Multiply each PU course grade point by its credit hours, add the products, and divide by total credits. That weighted average is what appears on most Purbanchal University transcripts under Nepal University GPA (4.0).
How do I convert PU CGPA to percentage?
TU-affiliated colleges report 4.0 SGPA/CGPA. Percentage cut-offs for government jobs are announced separately each year.
How do I combine semester GPAs into CGPA?
Weight each semester by its credit load: (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + …) ÷ total credits. CGPA mode on the calculator adds semester rows so you do not have to re-enter every subject.
What is the highest grade point on the PU scale?
On Nepal University GPA (4.0), the ceiling is 4.00 quality points (A). Hitting that across every credit is rare — one failed lab can pull the average down until you clear it.
Is this PU CGPA calculator free?
Yes. No account, no app install, and we do not upload your grades. Close the tab and the data is gone.
Who maintains this page?
My CGPA Calculator is run by students and alumni who got tired of generic CGPA widgets that ignore local scales. If you spot a wrong boundary for Purbanchal University, use the contact form with a link to the official handbook — we fix scales in batches.
