About the LSE degree calculator
London social sciences specialist — final degree class from weighted year averages. This degree calculator is tuned for UK Degree Classification (Honours) (Class). Nothing is stored on our servers; the math runs locally in your browser.

How to use this calculator
- Open Semester GPA when you are working with one term only; choose CGPA (or weighted average) when several semesters are finished.
- Add each module marks with the credit units shown on your LSE portal or registration slip.
- Select the letter or points from the dropdown — we already mapped them to the Class scale.
- Read the live result on the right. Toggle percentage mode only if your department published a conversion rule.
LSE grading system
UK Degree Classification (Honours) is what LSE prints on most transcripts. The top band is First Class (1st) (4.00 points). A fail (Fail) usually counts as zero quality points until you pass the retake.
The math behind semester GPA and cumulative CGPA is the same across most universities — see our CGPA formula guide for a worked example. For broader planning tips, read the complete CGPA guide on the homepage.
Percentage conversion
Honours degrees are reported as a class (First, 2:1, 2:2, Third), not as a single “CGPA percentage”. Focus on weighted module averages here.
